Announcing
the Coast Guard’s live rescue demonstration at The Blue Wild Ocean Adventure
Expo!
Ft Lauderdale Beach, FL, March 29, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The Blue Wild, http://thebluewild.com/index.html,
announced today the USCG’s elite air & sea rescue unit will perform a live
rescue demonstration at the Expo’s kick-off party, http://thebluewild.com/party.htm,
Friday, June 4th, 7 pm.
Courtyard by Marriott Ft. Lauderdale Beach, 440 Seabreeze Blvd, Ft Lauderdale,
FL is hosting the kick-off party on its pool deck. The rescue demonstration is
being held directly off the beach. The pool deck will provide the prefect
viewing location.
“The Coast Guard’s rescue teams are a boaters best friend” said event
hostess and producer Sheri Daye. Sheri, a freedive national spearfishing
champion, multiple world record holder, and host of Speargun Hunter on the
Outdoor Channel went on to add, “The brave young women and men that make up
these teams risk everything they have to save and protect us from a beautiful,
but sometimes unforgiving ocean. It is an honor to showcase their talents.”
Admission to the party is $5 with nominal priced drinks and free snacks. The
party will also feature free diver blackout rescue demonstrations by the world
renowned free diver Kirk Krack, live entertainment, raffles, and much more!
The party kicks-off a weekend full of adventure at the Expo being held at the
Broward County Convention Center on June 5th and 6th.
The expo will feature over 100 vendors, the top marine artist, and a speaker
list that includes the best names in freediving, scuba, and technical diving,
underwater cinematography, spearfishing, shark experts, and more.
A USCG Rescue Swimmer complements the speaker list. The Rescue Swimmers are a
small group within the U.S. Coast Guard, only about 300 of them service wide. To
join their ranks, candidates must endure physical and mental challenges that
rival those facing any potential Army Ranger, Navy SEAL or Air Force
pararescueman. They are the best-of-the-best.
Admission for the Expo is $30 for Saturday or $50 for the weekend, with a $5
discount for prepaid registration. The admission covers one or both days,
seminar, workshops, and vendor expo. Admission can be prepaid at http://thebluewild.com/tickets.htm
Twin Palms Center for the Disabled, http://www.twinpalmscenter.org
will be the recipient of the event proceeds. Sheri adds, “As fishermen, we are
blessed to be on the ocean, and we are often humbled by her might, beauty, and
unpredictability. I think it gives us a unique perspective on life, knowing we
are blessed, and knowing we must give back and help those who are not so
blessed.”
Giant raffles will be held each day and a live auction on Saturday. Items will
consist of dive gear, marine jewelry, and ocean artwork from artists David
Dunleavy, Carey Chen, Pascal Lecocq, Pasta Pantaleo, Jeremy Sinkus, Jason
Mathias, Jose Fernandez, Steve Ozment, and Rob Goins. We give a special thanks
to all the sponsors and artist for their contributions to the raffle and auction
and their generosity in helping Twin Palms Center and their clients.
